“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning.”

In this morning of table top building (Kemba’s favourite place to play) he explored shades of colours where we sorted his grapat brots into light and dark. He buit a city high on a mountain and told me about the canyon below. He talked about the water supply from the city in the mountain to the town, clarifying if a pond ran into a river or the river ran into the ocean. While he didn’t have figurines with informs he made the red brots firefighters, blue ones policemen and the light yellow ones laid on their side camels for people to ride between the cities. He placed other brots ontop of the high rise buildings and talked about how lots of people can fit in these types of buildings, referring back to the hotel we stayed at during our holidays. All of this play was happening while I was making lunches for our morning outing and the conversation only unearthed when I asked a few questions. However, all that thinking was happening while he was P L A Y I N G.
