The lack of “normal” play as a result of school closures and lockdown measures is likely to have a significant impact on children’s wellbeing and quality of life. A recent study indicated that preschool children rated opportunities for play and choice in play as essential to their wellbeing. These findings are important right now since children’s play is being strictly limited during the pandemic. The authors suggest that as lockdown measures are eased allowing children to have “normal” opportunities for play should be a priority.
